Open AI Launches ChatGPT Go in India at ₹399/Month with UPI Support

ChatGPT GO

OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Go, a new India-exclusive subscription tier priced at just ₹399 per month, making it the company’s most affordable ChatGPT offering to date. This marks a significant push to lower entry barriers for AI access, targeting price-sensitive users across the country.

Key Benefits for Indian Users

  • 10× higher message limits, 10× more image generation, and 10× more file uploads than available under the free tier.

  • Twice the memory length compared to free accounts, allowing ChatGPT to retain more context and deliver more personalized responses.

  • Access to GPT-5, OpenAI’s latest flagship AI model, including features like image creation, file analysis, and advanced data tools such as Python.

  • The plan includes local language support enhancements and full compatibility across web, mobile (iOS & Android), desktop, and WhatsApp (via 1-800-ChatGPT).

Localized Billing & Easy Payments

ChatGPT Go introduces two major localized improvements for Indian users:

  1. Pricing in Indian Rupees across all subscription tiers, eliminating the need for currency conversion.

  2. Option to pay via UPI, India’s massively popular instant payment platform—alongside credit cards—making the subscription both affordable and highly accessible. Where It Fits in the ChatGPT Lineup

ChatGPT GO

OpenAI now offers four tiers in India:

  • Free Plan – Limited usage.

  • ChatGPT Go – ₹399/month, aimed at students, freelancers, and everyday users seeking more capability without a premium price tag.

  • ChatGPT Plus – ₹1,999/month, includes deep research, legacy models like GPT-4o, connectors, and video tools like Sora.

  • ChatGPT Pro – ₹19,900/month, tailored for professional-grade usage.

Limitations to Note

  • Geo-restricted to users in India; global expansion is not yet confirmed.

  • API access is not included—developers and businesses must continue to use separate API billing.

  • No access to legacy models, connectors, or advanced Pro tools—those remain reserved for higher tiers.
