In a major push to strengthen its digital engineering and innovation capabilities, Indian IT giant Wipro Limited has announced the acquisition of the Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS) business unit of Harman International, a subsidiary of Samsung. The all-cash deal is valued at $375 million, signaling Wipro’s aggressive stance toward expanding its footprint in the high-growth digital engineering services space.
Strategic Move to Enhance Digital Engineering Capabilities
The DTS unit, part of Harman’s Connected Services division, is well-regarded for its expertise in product design, platform engineering, cloud-native solutions, and data-driven user experiences. Its clientele includes several Fortune 500 companies across industries like healthcare, consumer electronics, telecom, and automotive.
This acquisition is expected to enhance Wipro’s ability to deliver end-to-end digital transformation services, particularly in customer experience (CX), embedded software, and cloud engineering — areas that are becoming increasingly vital in a post-pandemic, AI-driven world.
Global Talent and Innovation Boost
Harman DTS employs over 7,000 professionals globally, many of whom are based in the U.S., India, and key European markets. With this acquisition, Wipro not only gains access to a diverse talent pool but also strengthens its delivery capabilities in North America, its largest market.
