Amid rising geopolitical tensions following a targeted Israeli military strike on Iran, Air India has diverted or recalled at least 16 of its international flights, citing passenger safety and the closure of Iranian airspace.
The military strike, dubbed Operation Rising Lion, has triggered immediate disruptions across West Asian flight corridors. Iran’s decision to shut down its airspace has significantly impacted global aviation routes, particularly those connecting India with Europe and North America.
In an official statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Air India said,
“Due to the emerging situation in Iran, the subsequent closure of its airspace and in view of the safety of our passengers, the following Air India flights are either being diverted or returning to their origin.”
